A Green One-pot Synthesis of 3-Substituted 1,2,4-Triazol-5-Amines as Potential Antimicrobial Agents

Abstract:
Heterocyclic compounds occupy an important place in medicinal chemistry. Triazole ring ispresent in many natural products and biologically active compounds [1, 2]. An efficient procedurewas proposed for the synthesis of 3-substituted 1,2,4-triazol-5-amines via one-pot reactionof thiourea, dimethyl sulfate and various hydrazides. 1,2,4-Triazoles were prepared inaqueos media under mild conditions while adhering to some principles of green chemistry(Fig. 1). Inhibitory activities of all compounds were evaluated against some pathogenic bacteriaand fungi. The best antibacterial effects were observed with 3-phenyl-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5-amine according to its MIC values (4-8 μg ml-1). All derivatives could block the growth offungi. Acceptable antioxidant properties were recorded only in 3-(4-nitrophenyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5-amine.
