Abstract:
Electrospinning is a simple and inexpensive technique used for many purposes, such as tissueengineering, textiles, air and water treatment filter, solar cells, and producing really thin polymerfiber as drug delivery systems [1,2]. In this research, we prepared a nanofiber of zeinpolymer using electrospining method. Moreover, a modified electrospinning setup was usedto successfully load Green Tea Extract (up to 24.5% w/w) in ultrathin electrospun zein fibres.Tea contains polyphenols that have effects like reducing inflammation and helping to fightcancer. Green tea is about 30 percent polyphenols by weight, including large amounts of acatechin called EGCG. Catechins are natural antioxidants that help prevent cell damage andprovide other benefits [3]. Loading of plant material, through electrospinning, can acceleratetheir remedial potential to many folds. This process maximizes the therapeutic potential. Themorphology of the nanofibers/green tee was characterized by scanning electron microscopy,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. As SEM imagesshown in Fig. 1, nanofibers were successfully fabricated by the electrospinning technique.
