Abstract:

Since sediment production and sedimentation are very significant in sedimentary basins and civil projects specifically in dams’ reservoirs, it is essential to scrutinize this issue and its influential conditions and parameters specifically temperature and rainfall. Climatic conditions are identified as one of the important factors in this regard. Karun basin is considered as one of these basins in which Lali area is located. The current research considers Lali area, Khuzestan province, as a conceptual- sedimentary model and analyzes these two variables. The present research has statistically measured the amount of evaporation and rainfall in the basin of the case study. It has used the statistical data taken from 11 stations in the area which were based on the surface high level of the main stations. Considerably, the amounts of these two parameters are adverse to each other in that as the amount of rainfall gets increased in one main station, the amount of temperature is decreased and the increase of the seasonal average rainfall makes the evaporation diminish in higher surface levels. Furthermore, the results reveal that the amount of these parameters in various high surface levels are different, It is also determined that rainfall and temperature parameters affect erosion and sedimentation the most. Consequently, it is essential to search for suitable alternatives to diminish damages resulted from erosion, transportation and sediment settlement along the sediments direction specifically in dams. This research is directed into determining the conditions of sediments and their relation with dams’ influential parameters and conditions
