Abstract:
ZnO nano rod was prepared by microwave assisted method. The crystal structure of the nanopowders were confirmed by X-Ray diffraction analysis and the mean particle size was estimated by theScherrer’s formula. The surface morphology of the nano particles were analyzed by SEM and TEM. Theabsorption spectrum of the material in the UV-Vis range was recorded. The prepared ZnO rod was used as aphotocatalyst in presence of UV light against Malachite Green dye. The ZnO nanoparticle was found to be anefficient low cost photocatalyst which degraded Malachite Green dye in presence of UV light in a relativelyshort period of time.
