Abstract:

In this article, a speed controller for DC motor is designed and illustratedusing fuzzy logic-based programmable logic controller (PLC). The DCmotor is an attractive part of electrical equipment in many industrialapplications requiring variable speed and load specifications due to itsease of controllability. The designed system is consisted of three mainparts including programmable logic controller, pulse width modulation(PWM) bipolar drive and DC motor. In the control section, PLC is used asreal time controller and fuzzy logic algorithm is designed based onnonlinear model of DC motor, and its parameters are optimized inMATLAB software. Then, it is implemented using rslogix5000 PLC andprogramming language ladder for speed control. Finally, with favorableresults, the efficacy of the controller is successfully proved underdifferent load conditions. The obtained results demonstrate the efficacy ofthe PLC intelligent controller in enhancing the accuracy and speed controlof DC motor.
