Abstract:

Background and Aim : The aim of this study was to determine the relapse ratio , psychological health and craving status among drug addicted who the drug abusing was cut off by them and recovered with DST method and consumption of opium Tincture in an Iranian NGO , named Congress 60 .Methods : Material and method: Samples were 500 persons who were selected among 3015 treatment addicts . They were living across the country and it was more than 1 year ( 22 months ) that they did not use the Opium Tincture and/or another drug .We examined them with urine test , that after collection , were tested by 5 panels Rapid test and TLC method too. The subjects completed CBQ and SCL-90 Questionnair after collecting the demographic data. Results : Results showed that %88/4 of them were free of any drug in their urines exam and just %11/6 had have relapsed again .The different between this result and other studies findings about relapse ratio in Iran and other countries is significant. Craving and psychological health level were lower among those who cut off drug without any relapse than relapsed sample Conclusion : it seems that this treatment method ( DST) and opium tincture (O.T ) as an alternative drug can be useful in other countries around the world as an effectiveness trend for drug addiction control and prevention of relapse
