Abstract:

Background and Aim : Addiction is one of the twenty-first century crises that causes one of the health, psychological and social problems. The first step in preventing and reducing the prevalence of addiction in the community and helping addicts is to identify their quality of life status. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of life in addicted patients referred to addiction treatment centers. Methods : In this descriptive and cross-sectional study, 200 addicted people in Semnan were selected by simple sampling method. Data were collected through demographic and quality of life questionnaire (SF17). Data were analyzed by SPSS 22 software. Results : The results showed that out of 200 addicts, 71.2% were male and 28.8% were female. 57.5% of the subjects had a somewhat desirable quality of life and 23.6% had poor quality of life. There was a significant relationship between quality of life with occupation (p = 0.041) and education (p = 0.023). Also, there was a significant relationship between quality of life of people with marital status (p = 0.001). However, there was no significant relationship between quality of life and age, gender. Conclusion : Given the fact that repeated and recurrent returns to drugs and the inability to leave most of the addicts are present, considering support systems and improving the quality of life of addicts is essential for prevention and treatment.
