A REVIEW OF FAMILY FACTORS AND SATISFACTION OF BASIC PSYCHOLOGICAL NEEDS ON THE TENDENCY OF ADOLESCENTS TO DRUGS ABUSE

Background and Aim : Adolescence is a transitional period between childhood and adult that is associated with significant biological, cognitive, and psychosocial changes. The increasing trend of drug use is one of the problems, especially among adolescents and young people, which has attracted the attention of psychologists and sociologists for many years. The purpose of this paper is to study the family factors and satisfaction of basic psychological needs on the tendency of adolescents to drugs abuse. Methods : In this review article, attempts to collect and review the documents , including articles published in internal and external journals, theses and articles presented at the congresses.Results : The primary family plays a direct and indirect role in the tendency of adolescents to drug use. Surface and cold – based relations on the family have increased their likelihood of drug use. Also, the parents parents mismanagement has played a significant role in their tendency to drugs abuse. Psychological needs include: independence, communication and competence. These needs are innate in all humans, which, if these requirements are not met, are likely to cause the mood and tendency to addiction in peopleConclusion : Family ties, parent-child attachment, effective communication, and talking about expectations and values and monitoring adolescents behavior are important family-protecting factors against drug use. Due to the many and widespread problems of drug use and its high costs, this study is aimed at prospective specialists and therapists to identify the threatening and predisposing factors of drugs abuse and, if necessary, to provide appropriate interventions for families and adolescents and to satisfaction of basic Psychological needs in preventing or reducing drug use
