A new hybrid method for segmentation and detection of the tumors in the mammographic images of the breast tissue

Segmentation and the edge detection of tumors in the breast tissue are one of the most serious challenges in the diagnosis of the breast cancer. Nowadays mammography is the first and best way to detect tumors in the breast, in which, imprecise segmentation and detection of the masses leads to wrong diagnosis or unnecessary biopsy of the breast tissue. In this paper, a new hybrid method for the segmentation and edge detection the tumors in the mammographic images of the breast tissue is presented. This method is based on histogram analysis and the hybrid of the ant colony optimization and wavelet transform as well as mathematical morphology. The obtained results for 300 mammographic images show more than 75% accuracy in the segmentation and edge detection of the tumors
