Abstract:

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of using computer grammar software among elementary EFL learners to develop their performance of sentence order. To perform this study 30 elementary participants studying in Khalily s language Institute in Mahshahr, Iran, were selected. They took part in proficiency test and then they were randomly assigned into two homogenous groups. Then, both groups were given a pre-test before treatment to determine how well the subjects know the contents. During a ten - session course, both groups covered the same materials about grammar and sentence order selected by the researcher. The experimental group under treatment also received the grammar software program while the control group received traditional way of teaching grammar instruction. Finally, at the end of the course, all the participants sat for their post -test to determine the effect of the suggested method. Paired sample T-test was used to compare the means of the pre-test and post-test in both groups. The findings revealed that the grammar knowledge of both groups improved. Moreover, Independent Sample T-test showed that there was a significant difference between the two groups concerning grammar and performance of sentence order.
