Abstract:
In this paper I focused on capitalist ideology in Zora Neale Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God, and I explore the oppressive socioeconomic forces in the novel. According to Marx in 1844 manuscripts, in political economy laborer sinks to the level of commodity, and in this paper it is explained that how Joe considered people as commodity and the way he abused his social and political powers is explained.it is shown that in this novel, Hurston tried to criticize capitalist ideology.
