Abstract:
Background: Application of herbs and algae has a long history between human populations. One of the most important properties of algae is using of them for combating of microbial infections. In this study algae grown in Soufi Chays (Maragheh City) have been indentified, after those antimicrobial effects of algal extracts were examined on S.aureus, E.fecalis ATCC 25912, and E.coli. Methods: Algae were identified by macroscopic methods. Extracts were prepared by rotary evaporation, after that antimicrobial, MIC, and MBCs were done by preparing wells in agar, and tube macro dilution, respectively. Results: The results showed that organic extracts of Chara Bulgaria and Chartomorpha had great antibacterial effects on studied bacteria. Conclusion: Findings of this study indicates that organic extracts of Chara Bulgaria and Chartomorpha have excellent antimicrobial effects on used bacteria, based on estimated MIC and MBCs Bulgarias extract was great on E.fecalis ATCC 25912 than chartomorphas on S.aureus and E.coli. Which in turn could be used for designing further studies as a new antimicrobial and production of health care’s including antimicrobials and products such as mouthwashes
