Abstract:

The present study is aimed to design a damped dynamic vibration absorber to reduce vibrations of a damped one-DOF (degree of freedom) using evolutionary algorithms and compare them with each other. The main system was excited by a harmonic force. The equations governing the main system have been demonstrated as a matrix using Newton’s second law. Since values of the parameters of the primary system were constant, a domain (upper/lower bound) was considered for parameters of the absorber including absorber mass, damping, and stiffness. system. Using the optimization criterion H2 and two optimization algorithms, namely GA (genetic algorithm) and ICA (imperialist competitive algorithm), values of mass, stiffness, and damping were obtained for the assumed configuration and then compared with each other. Based on the obtained results, it was observed that ICA had better performance than GA.
