Abstract:

Based on Timoshenko beam theory, the vibration analysis of an elastically connected multiple-rotating beam system is investigated by using differential transform method. The identical tapered beams are assumed to be parallel and connected by a finite number of springs. Assuming n parallel Timoshenko beams, the motion of the system is described by a coupled set of 2n partial differential equations. All beams are considered to be rotated with the same rotational speed around a central hub. The effects of taper ratio, hub radius, rotating speed and stiffness of intermediate connections are investigated on the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the system of beams. The results have been validated against those reported in literature. It is observed that the numerical results obtained from differential transform method are in a good agreement with the values obtained from other methods reported in the literature
