Abstract:
The present paper studied the isothermal heat aging behavior of the glass fiber/epoxy (GFE) composites. After exposure to 110 °C, 120 °C and 130 °C for various periods of times under atmospheric pressure, flexural tests and gravimetric measurements were conducted on both non-aged and thermally aged specimens in order to evaluate the isothermal heat aging effects on mechanical properties of GFE composites. The results indicated the isothermal heat aging led to weight loss and drop in flexural properties of GFE composites. However these degradations were time and temperature dependent.
