Abstract:

Background and Aim : Due to its mortality rate, it is important to diagnose prostate cancer in the early stages. Examining the expression level of responsible genes for the disease may provide a more sensitive and specific method in this regard. Methods : : In this case-control study, 40 men with cancer (PCa), 40 with prostate hyperplasia(BPH), and 40 controls were examined. Following to blood sampling, RNA extraction and cDNA synthesis, the expression of GSTP1, HDAC, DNMT3a, and DNMT3b were assessed using specific primers and Real-Time PCR method. Results : : A significant decrease in GSTP1 but an increase in HDAC, DNMT3a, and DNMT3b expression activity was identified in PCa and BPH people in comparison with the controls (p value<0.0001).Conclusion : Simultaneous expression analysis of GSTP1 and the epigenetic regulators could be a suitable tool for the detection of prostatic patients in the Iranian population. However, similar experiments in a larger population would confirm our results.
