Abstract:
This paper introduces the historical background about the development of water based, ethylene glycol (EG) based and EG/water mixture nanofluids. For Nowadays, the fundamental studies of nanofluids are increasing rapidly for engineering applications as effective working fluids. The effects of using nanofluids in Plate heat exchangers (PHEs) and shell and tube ones as major common heat exchangers are investigated numerically and experimentally and the results of increment of heat transfer coefficient (HTC) because of nanofluidsis evaluated in this paper. The review article attempts to take a sneak peek into some of the important published articles that deal with the function and performance of PHEs and other common types of heat exchangers using nanofluids. Furthermore, applications of nanofluids inother engineering applications such as in automotive, transportation, cooling of electronics components, solar, and nuclear reactor coolant have been considered as well
