Abstract:
Objective: Spiritual health is one of the fundamental concepts in chronic diseases that is considered as an important approach in promoting general health and quality of life by creating meaning and purpose in life. Regarding post-traumatic mental health problems, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between spiritual health and quality of life in patients with multiple sclerosis.Methodology: This study is a cross-sectional review of existing Iranian and international databases including Sid, Google Scholar, Civilica, and keywords of MS and English equivalents.Results: Spiritual health in most of these patients was 97.7%. There was a significant relationship between spiritual health in religious dimension and quality of life in psychological dimension. In the existential dimension, there was a significant relationship between quality of life in both physical dimensions (p = 0.04) and psychological dimension (p≤0.0001). The results showed that the training of eight sessions of spiritual health intervention in the experimental group, compared to the control group, resulted in changes in the scores of hopeful variables (1%), problem-oriented coping strategies (1%) and emotion-focused (2%).Conclusion: According to the results, it can be concluded that strengthening the spiritual dimension of health as an effective factor on quality of life in these patientswin. This key point in a country with intellectual, cultural and religious beliefs such as Iran can be useful in the design of care programs for such patients.Therefore , spiritual health training can be effective in raising hope and enhancing problem-focused coping strategies for people with MS.
