Survey Developing online course material in English for postgraduate students in Bandar Abbas

The online course material in English for Postgraduate Students is designed to allow you to become a more independent and confident user of English in an academic context will develop the skills to self-correct and self-audit your own writing and speaking as well as to listen and to read English with the accuracy and ease needed for intensive study The issue of discrepancies between university English language curriculum and English requirements at the workplace has resulted in incompetent English language graduates This has influenced a trend toward the promotion of professional education in higher education such as purposes English The study proposes the use of a competency-based approach and presents a detailed process for developing such an online course material with a focus on equipping undergraduate students with the needed competencies in English communication To develop the online course material a needs analysis was conducted based on the modified technique and also a questionnaire. Results of the needs analysis were used to design the online course material The Online course material was implemented with 140 students at Bandar Abbas University for one semester The Online course material was evaluated against seven criteria The results from both quantitative and qualitative data indicated that all of the seven criteria were achieved testifying the effectiveness of the Online course material Finally some major points in each process of the study were discussed to justify the effectiveness of the online course material.
