Abstract:
Nobel metals such as platinum, gold and silver have found manyapplications in industries and treatment centers. More specifically, goldnanostructures have been the subject of a considerable amount ofliterature over the past decades. Their widespread potential in electronicsand biomedicine originates from their uniqe optical, electrical and chemicalproperties.Mainly, their optical properties has simplified the diagnosis andtreatment of fatal diseases such as cancer. Therefore, synthesis,characterization and functionalization of gold nanostructures arefundamental steps to take advantage of their features. Herein,two typicalnanostructures of gold metal were synthesized and functionalized toharness their potential in a variety of sectors including biosensing,bioimaging and treatment. The spherical and rod-like nanostructures werefunctionalizedthrough a bio-conjugated system with cysteine amino acid.Obtaeindproducts were characterized with FT-IR and UV-Visspectroscopy. Size and aspect ratio of prepared nanostructures wereidentified. Finally, X-ray diffraction patterns revealed the crystallinestructure of nanostructures.
