Abstract:

Preparation and electrochemical properties of a noncovalent nanohybrid of ferrocene(Fc) with multi wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) on carbon-ceramic electrode(CCE), Fc-MWNT/CCE, have been investigated in an aqueous solution in detail. Onepair of surface-confined redox waves corresponding to the couple of Fc/Fc+ isobtained, which indicates that Fc encapsulated inside MWCNTs retainselectrochemical activity. It shows excellent mediation of zinc, cadmium and leadbased on Fc/Fc+ used as electron-transfer mediators for oxidation of zinc, cadmiumand lead suggesting specific properties of Fc-MWCNT due to a combination of Fcand MWCNT. A Fc-MWCNT/CCE-based sensor for zinc, cadmium and lead with aconvenient determination limit is fabricated, and it shows good stability andreproducibility.The present method was applied for simultaneous determination of zinc, cadmiumand lead in refinery environmental wastewaters sample by using potentiometricstripping analysis (PSA) to applied potential of -1.3 V range of concentration from58.4 up to 646.2gL−1 and the results were satisfactory.
