Genetic variation of miR-149 in Cancer

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small noncoding regulatory RNAs, 18~22 nucleotides, that arefrequently dysregulated in Cancers. Rs2292832 is a genetic polymorphism that located in theprecursor of miR-149 and has been studied in diverse Cancers. We retrieved publications forany relationship between miR-149 and Cancer from PubMed. The database was queried bythese key words: â€oemiR-149â€, â€oers2292832â€,â€oeCancerâ€. Further we refinepublications to set premium to papers with well controlled strategy and large sample size. Wehave found that rs2292832 have important role in cancer development. In some cancer miR-149 has a suppression function while in other Cancer, functions as an oncogenic regulator.Accordingly there is controversy about miR1-49 in cancer development. MiR-149 functionsas a tissue-based marker for Cancer detection, classification and prognostication.
