Abstract:

Cancer is a class of disease characterized by abnormal cells that grow and invade surrounding healthy cells in the body. Gastric cancer remains highly prevalent and accounts for a notable proportion ofglobal cancer mortality. This cancer is also associated with poor survival rates. Understanding the genetic basis of gastric cancer will offer insights into its pathogenesis, help identify new biomarkers andnovel treatment targets, aid prognostication and could be central to developing individualized treatment strategies in the future. Nowadays treatment options based on the genetic variations occurring inspecific individuals are being offered. SNPs are the most important biomarker for personalized medicine. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) participate in diverse biological pathways and may act as oncogenesor tumor suppressors, so they could be used as a prognostic biomarker. The aim of our study is to expand current knowledge about molecular function of hsa-miR-514b-5p and its SNP in gastric cancercells by using bioinformatics tools. Validated and predicted targets of hsa-miR-514b-5p were obtained from miRwalk2 databases respectively. miRBase and DAVID databases were used for further analysis.miRNASNP database predicts single nucleotide polymorphism in IL6R related to hsa-miR-514b-5p.It is predicted that hsa-miR-514b-5p acts as a critical tumor suppressor micro RNA. Our data manifestedKEGG signaling pathways pathway in cancer as the most statistical relevant pathways with hsa-miR- 514b-5p targetome. According to our data, hsa- miR-514b-5p and its related SNP may be involved ingastric cancer prognosis . To sum up, G allele in this location can have prognostic value for patients with gastric carcinoma.
