Abstract:
Background: Burn scar is one of the most severe burns that occurs in atrophic or hypertrophic forms. , And in addition to increasing hospital costs, causes a lot of mental and emotional problems. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of hypertrophic scars after burn wounds. Methods: Search articles was including search bases of Cochrane library, CINAHL, scopus. Articles were selected that provided hypertrophic scar data for calculating spot outbreaks. The quality of the selected articles was good. Data were extracted according to study characteristics, specimens, characteristics of burn wounds, hypertrophic Oscar’s evaluation method. According to the entry and exit criteria, 14 papers were selected. Results: 12 papers and 2 abstracts were selected for data extraction. The incidence of scarring was 59-39% at the time of discharge, but with an interval of a long time after the burn wound, the prevalence rate was reduced. The highest rates of hypertrophy occurred in more severe burn wounds, flame burn, children, women, spinal cord and upper limbs. Conclusions: The prevalence of hypertrophic scar in different studies was very different. Assessment of hypertrophic scar is difficult when the outbreak is uncertain. Therefore, it is suggested that more national and international studies be conducted on the prevalence of wound pathologies, their evolution over time and risk factors.
