Abstract:
In this study, the model consists of a two-layered system of clay over mixed soil with a number of horizontal layers of geogrid reinforcement in the granular fill replaced with clay. The sensitivity analysis in the ABAQUS software is implemented using the different number of geogrid sheets and shapes of foundations. Also, Analytical modeling of reinforced soil foundation is performed for verifying finite element method. The study shows the ultimate bearing capacity of strip foundations are more affected by reinforced soils with geogrid than square and circular foundations
