Abstract:
The societies are exposed to natural disasters such as earthquakes. Precautions must be taken before and after an earthquake in order to reduce earthquake damages. Evaluating seismic resilience is one of these actions. Soft computing is an innovative method for development of smart systems which nowadays, are considered by the scientific communities. One of the methods of soft computing is the theory of Fuzzy logic. In this paper, basic parameters of resilience are defined by using Fuzzy logic. Eventually Fuzzy seismic resilience index is obtained. Also by using the represented Fuzzy model, Fuzzy seismic resilience index of a hospital in southern California whose seismic resilience has been investigated by professor Cimellaro, is obtained too. Results obtained from Fuzzy logic method show that the Fuzzy method is more effective in estimation of seismic resilience index in buildings
