Abstract:

The experiment was conducted at site infested with root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita) having 2 j2/g of soil to evaluate the reaction of twelve varieties of tomato under field condition. The data indicated that number of galls/root system was ranging from 6-215. The minimum number of galls/root system was noticed in case of Mobile variety by 6, whereas, Royal variety showed maximum number of galls/root system (215). On the basis of this experiment Mobile variety was resistant to root-knot nematode followed by Super Queen variety which showed moderate resistance. Royal variety was considered as highly susceptible one to root-knot nematode. The result indicated that Mobile variety could be used as source of resistance in breeding programme of tomato against M. incognita.
