Abstract:
Iran adopted a comprehensive plan to reduce air pollution in Tehran in 2000 for the first time and ministry of oil began an attempt to reduce sulfur in gasoline consumption. But this attempt caused the sulfur level of gasoline consumption decrease to 50 ppm. Since the removed sulfur compounds from combustion of fuel oil are harmful, so scientist went looking for ways that can reduce fuel sulfur levels. Hydrodesulfurizing technology (HDS), which originally developed in Germany before World War ІІ, eliminated sulfur fuel oil. Because of a series conditions including temperature, pressure and use of expensive hydrogen in HDS, scientists developed the method to use appropriate conditions. Therefore a method was developed called oxidative de sulfuration (ODS). ODS method consists of two phases:1- oxidation of sulfur compounds from fuel. 2- Removal of oxidation sulfur compounds by liguid extraction. This paper studies the process of ODS that cause to reduce sulfur fuel oil.
