Abstract:

Introduction: The polygenic HLA system is a well-known region of the human genome. Its main function is topresent antigenic peptides to the immune system and thereby regulate induction of immune responses. Extensivegenetic polymorphisms characterize some HLA genes. Knowledge of the specific polymorphisms of individuals isessential in organ and stem cell transplantation and highly useful in disease association studies. So, the goal of thestudy were investigating of the association of HLA-DQA1*0102, -DQB1*0602, -DRB5*01 and -A*0301 haplotypesin different genders of population according to gender. Methods: HLA-DQA1*0102, DQB1*0602, DRB5*01 and A*0301 alleles were investigated in 242 healthyindividuals. Polymerase chain reaction amplification with sequence specific primers (PCR-SSP) method wasperformed for this goal. SPSS software was used for analyzing of HLA association.Result: There was no association between sex and neither of two allelic haplotypes A*301--DRB5*01- (p =0.973,OR =1.026 [95% CI = 0.229-4.590]), DQB1*0602+-DRB5*01- (p =0.595, OR =1.243 [95% CI =0.557-2.776]),DQA1*0102+-A*301- (p =0.644, OR =0.678 [95% CI =0.129-3.561]).Conclusion: This study on normal population of Khuzestan gives some information about HLA haplotypes withhigh frequency in both sexes of this population. It was observed in some population that HLA haplotypes haveassociation with susceptibility to autoimmune diseases like MS; so, having high frequency of the haplotypes mayput the population in danger.
