Acute food poverty leads to slimming, while chronic and long-term food poverty can lead to short stature and can lead to complications such as mental retardation. Given that the developmental disorder has serious and detrimental effects on the health of the child, this study may be useful to control this condition. Data was collected by using a researchermade valid and reliable questionnaire and anthropometric measurements (height - weight).Growth status was crosssectional and evaluated through growth charts in the health record. Data were analyzesed using SPSS software version 23 using and appropriate statistical tests including chi-square and Mann-Whitney tests. Results : In this study, the point estimate of prevalence of Failure To Thrive was 25%. Also, a 95% confidence interval for prevalence of Failure To Thrive in children under 5 years of age was determined in Behbahan city (0.21-0.29). In this study, the relationship between acute respiratory infection and Failure To Thrive was significant (p = 0.04). However, diarrhea (p=0.052), father s education (p=0.48), and maternal education (p=0.224) were not significantly associated with Failure To Thrive. Conclusion : Given the relatively high prevalence of Failure To Thrive in the study population (25%) and its importance of as one of the major health issues, it is recommended to conduct further research in Behbahan city in the form of longitudinal study of Failure To Thrive.
