Abstract:

Introduction: Overweight and obesity are a major public health problem. In Iran, as a developing country, the prevalence of childhood obesity is much higher than expected and increases with age, as many childhood habits and patterns are formed during childhood and remain until the end of life. Proper nutrition in this period will help the baby grow and develop and reduce chronic diseases in adulthood. Obesity, while reducing child productivity, increases the risk of hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, etc. and is a prerequisite for chronic adulthood disorders. Increased urban life, widespread television advertising, packaging attractions, and lack of parental nutritionawareness are major causes of changing food consumption patterns. Since a quarter of the energy a child consumes comes from snacks, choosing the right snack is important in maintaining weight and getting nutrients. Results and Conclusion: Deleting the main meals and alternatives to breakfast are closely linked to overweight and obesity in children, so interventions to improve and improve the dietary pattern and pay particular attention to the quantity and quality of snacks are essential. Improving unhealthyeating habits, building a healthy dietary pattern, training to raise awareness of children and parents, encouraging producers to produce traditional nutritious snacks with attractive packaging and appearance, getting help from the national media can be strategies. As children are the least consumed among children, breakfasts are often served during school hours and buffet breakfasts, and the results of various studies show that training children and parents to lose weight and change their eating patterns. It is effective and schools can take effective steps as a learning environment through education on health and nutrition, education on healthy nutrition, parent education, healthyeating buffet, encouragement for breakfast and physical activity.
