Abstract:
One of the most important processes in oil refineries is catalytic reforming unit in which high octane gasoline is produced. Reforming of n-heptane has been carried out over four Pt-loaded composite-based catalysts. The activity and selectivity of each catalyst under the operating condition of temperature were studied. Generally, the high temperature favored the overall n-heptane conversion while the selectivity towards isomers decreased at high temperature as the overall conversion increased to a high value. The attention of this paper was focused on changes of the final product and product’s octane number with respect to the changes in the catalysts composition. Also, the effects of temperature were evaluated. On this basis of the obtained results, the best catalytic performance was obtained for the Pt/HZSM5-SBA-15 catalyst.
