Abstract:
Soil salinity and soil salinization are important challenges related to soil management and sustainable agriculture around the world in particular arid and semi-arid regions like Iran. In this research, electric arc furnace (EAF) Slag powder, spent tire powder, and vinasse were examined to remediate saline soils. Saline soil sample (with ECe 68.5 dS/m and pH 6.85) was taken from Roodasht Research Station of Isfahan. 19 samples were prepared according to the design of experiments Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and Central Composite Design (CCD) by mixing the above wastes. ECe and the pH of the samples were determined. Results showed that the addition of the above wastes could decrease the salinity of the soil over 65% and increase the pH about 41%. Also, optimum composition was determined at 51 g of EAF powder, 81.170 g of tire powder, and 151.787 ml of vinasse.
