Comparison of CAD/CAM laminates with porcelains laminates in aesthetic restorative dentistry

Background and Objective: Porcelain laminates veneer (PLV) are acceptable options for correcting shape, symmetry, contour, size, discoloration, surface defects ,diastema closuring and improve dental aesthetics. In the past few decades, there have been advances in dental materials and computer technology such as CAD/CAM systems, which has led to some changes and improvements in aesthetic dentistry.Materials and Methods: Our search is based on related articles (up to 4-Apr 2019) that included: case reports, Retrospective studies, and reviews that published in PubMed.Finding: Most studies demonstrated that use of CAD/CAM systems is promising for restoring and maintaining oral function in patient, as well as promoting good esthetic results.Conclusion: According to the most of relevant articles PLVs are demanded restorations because they are conservative restorations and have very good esthetic results. PLVs can be produced with CAD/CAM systems in perfect consistency, minimal errors and provided the patient’s aesthetic demands. Furthermore, improvement of CAD/CAM systems makes advancement in all features, especially in aesthetics.
