New Approach based on DRM for Flattening the TLP, PSL and Dwindling the Electricity Cost Price of Residential Customers

Abstract:

Due to increase of energy consumption, environmental issues and the lack of conventional energy sources based on fossil fuels, utilization of distributed energy resource (DER) and demand response management (DRM) techniques has been as top priority. Growth of DER penetration and effectual implementation of DRM especially in distribution networks has caused many issues such as power system control and operation of these networks to be affected. Whereas DER utilization can reduce the cost related to the required development of the network. Control and operation of distributed generation units with unique performance characteristics requires precise and intelligent planning so that efficient and safe operation of power system to be achieved. Smart Grid and electric distribution network as the last chain of the power grid that deliver energy from generation units to customers have been upgrading the power grid, and accordingly make it more stable, reliable and efficient. Likewise, with the appearanceof smart meters into the distribution network incentive plans provide for residential customers to decrease energy consumption in time of peak load and shifts it into the valley load times. In this paper a new coordination plan based on DRM model is proposed to systematize demand response provided by residential sectors. In fact, proposed DRM strategy has been here reconfigured with aforesaid principles for flattening the daily total load profile (TLP). Also, hourly power system losses (PSL) have been flattening. Note that, the required modules are installed in all customers’ homes. All the analytical studies have been performed with considering IEEE 24 power system.
