Abstract:

Background and Aim: Cardiovascular disease is a polygenic disorderthat is caused by several genetic and non-genetic risk factors. Theidentification of genes that are involved in its pathogenesis has greatlyincreased our knowledge of the mechanisms that underlie this condition. Recently, the general principles of microRNAs biomarkers and stem celltherapy have provided new modalities for effective treatment and earlydetections. Methods: Fifty patients with acute myocardial infarction underpercutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) without requiring open-heartsurgery and one-hundred healthy controls in this study were selected.Expression levels of and microRNA-221 in blood using real-time PCRand other cardiac chemistries such as CTNI, CK-MB, Creatinine wereevaluated. Results: Our data analysis revealed that microRNA-221 levels weresignificantly increased in primary PCI myocardial infarction patientscompared to the healthy group. Expression levels of microRNA-221were 210-fold compared to the healthy group. Receiver operatingcharacteristic analysis was shown that the area under the curve (AUC) ofmiR-221 was 0.945( P<0.001) in primary patientsConclusion: The appropriateness of early detection and medical therapyfor acute myocardial infarction depends on many factors. In this way, microRNAs can be appropriate biomarkers for patients with myocardialinfarction.
