Abstract:

Depression is one of the most common psychiatric disorders. According to the national study of diseases and injuries in Iran, depression is the third most common health problem in the country. Depression in women is more than men. The purpose of this research-based study was to determine the prevalence rate Depression in women under IVF due to infertility compared to women with normal fertility. A descriptive study was performed on 400 patients in two groups of 200 patients. The first group was from patients referring to one of the competent centers of infertility in Shiraz from 2007 to 2010 and second group The patients at one of the obstetrics centers of this city, including those who were naturally pregnant during the same period of time, were evaluated for depression in a questionnaire based on questionnaires and validity and reliability criteria were investigated. The results of the questionnaires completed through interviews with patients in both groups were analyzed by statistical software. The results of this study showed that 7% of the target group was depressed compared to 3.0% of the control group Which shows an increase of 2.33 in terms of medical scores between the two groups, which is significant and significant (p <0.05). By comparing the results of this study with the comparison of the two case and control groups, there was evidence that there was a significant increase in the prevalence of depression in the case group compared to the control group. According to the results, there are especially those who suffer from infertility, if beginning psychotherapy, simultaneously treat infertility, can reduce the anxiety and concern of this group effectively and add to the hope of success in fertility. Nevertheless, in order to achieve more precise results, we need more extensive studies
