Abstract:
Taking a good look at the zoning maps of Iran, it can be perceived that most parts of the country are located in relatively in high seismic region which is due to its positioning on Alps-Himalaya’s seismic belts. The foregoing necessitates the retrofitting and strengthening of RC structures. The performance of RC structures is inextricably interwoven to the construction process of the connections and the members connected to it, namely beams and columns. Several approaches are available for strengthening the connections in RC structures. In this study FRP sheets have been used as confining agents to enhance the mechanic of properties of the connection subjected to cyclic loadings through finite element method. Models have been analyzed and validated with experimental results using finite elements software, ABAQUS.
