Abstract:
Post-combustion concepts based on chemical absorption process has been extensively studied as one of the main carbon capture and separation technologies. This work focuses on the creation of an Aspen plus rate-based models of absorption and desorption processes. The separation process has been carried out over 2000 Kmol/h flue gas flow rate for 95% CO2 removal with 30 wt% aqueous MEA. The effect of several parameters such as, molar flow rate of solvent, absorber pressure, solvent temperature, molar ratio of solvent in the inlet flue gas, influence of stripper stages and stripper parameters on the reboiler duty are presented. In addition, the regeneration energy for absorption process was calculated to 3138 GJ/h and according to this figure, the amount of necessary steam for regeneration process and the net price of steam in Iran were reported.
