Comparison of the effect of music performance and comic show on elderly depression

The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of humor and music performance on depression in the elderly. To investigate the hypothesis of this study 60 elderly who living in nursing home in Mashhad city in 2016- 2017 wrere selected by accessible method. Participants randomly assigned to three groups (two case and one control group). The depression questionnaire was administered to them as pre-test and post-test. Results showed significant difference between the three groups in the depression index and in the post-test (P <0.05; F = 132/488). Therefore, this research hypothesis is confirmed and it can be said that there is a significant difference in the effect of humor and music performance on depression. In general, the results show that the effect of music performance on depression is -5.513 while the effect of humor on depression is -14.15, and thus the effect of humor performance on reduction of Depression is more than music performance.
