Abstract:

Happiness is an important issue that comes up in childhood and can affect different aspects of one s life. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the level of happiness and its relationship with mindfulness in Iranian children. In this descriptive cross-sectional study, 169 Iranian 7-11 year old children (115 girls and 54 boys) were selected by convenience sampling method and answered two Oxford happiness and child and adolescent mindfulness questionnaires. The results showed that although Iranian children do not experience high levels of happiness, the level of happiness is directly related to their level of mindfulness and can be a predictor of happiness in Iranian children. In this way, a child with high level of mindfulness will experience higher level of happiness.
