Abstract:
In the coming pages the design of a water cooler is investigated in order to reduce the water carry-over from the waste gas stream of the Sour Water Treating plant. High water content prevents the gas to be burned inside the incinerator of the Sulfur Recovery unit and is unwillingly sent to the flare network resulting into corrosion issues and Slops formation. Upon simulating the whole water treating unit via Aspen v. 2006.5 to obtain operating data for the gas stream, using HTRI v. 5.0 a highly efficient water cooler is designed which practically condenses over 53 percent of water from the vapor phase making it suitable for introduction to the incinerator
