Abstract:

The purpose of the present research was analytical comparison of total intelligence, verbal and practical capacities, their subscales with academic achievement of delinquent and non-delinquent adolescence. The research includes 71 delinquent boy adolescence and 71 normal adolescence. There were used the Wechsler Intelligence Scale and their grade average to measure the considered properties. According variance analysis and t-test, result of intelligence scale showed significant difference in verbal, practical and total intelligence variables between delinquent and non-delinquent adolescence, as which delinquent adolescence obtained lower scores in all three scales. The results of comparison between both groups in components of verbal and practical intelligence showed differences in components of information, similarity, arithmetic, vocabulary, comprehension, complete pictures, pictures arrange, block design and symbols between the two groups, and normal adolescence are better than delinquent ones. There was no a significant difference between the two groups in subscale of assembly. Results of academic achievement showed that delinquent youths have lower achievement than the comparison group
