Abstract:

Background: The knowledge and skills of medical aid to victims of road accidents due to drivers being the first to adopt that are present at the accident scene can reduce the extent of damage, this study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice of road drivers Yazd , the initial medical efforts for the victims of road accidents took place.Methods: This cross-sectional study took place with a random sample of 99 road drivers. The data collected through questionnaire includes sections on demographic variables and knowledge, attitude and practice that were approved with Cronbach Alpha 0.7. Questionnaire completed and data with statistical software SPSS18 and frequency tables, t-tests and correlation were analyzed.Results: In this study, mean age is 39.32 -8.72. The mean score of knowledge was7.36-2.06 of the maximum score14, the mean score of attitude was13.36-1.63 of the maximum score15 and the mean score of practice was7.55-0.93 of the maximum score10. Among the questions with the lower correct answer participants awareness of the options priority assistance to victims incident with dozens of injuries 6.1% and the heart massage and artificial respiration 8.1%, respectively.Conclusion: Considering the average level of awareness and lack of information on priority assistance to victims and cardiac massage and artificial respiration, thus planning to organize educational courses on the subject, with emphasis on those who had less knowledge is necessary.
