MAZDAK** a community based intervention model for promotion of children home safety in Tehran

Introduction: safety is an essential issue for the children because it directly related to the health. Objective of this study was evaluating the current home safety in one of the districts of the Tehran city for under-five children by community based intervention. The main target was to promote home safety by voluntaries intervention, education and home safety checklist. The home safety checklist was prepared through research team and expert panel. In this study 200 families evaluated their homes for the safety condition, according five domains –Physical, Kitchen, Bath, Toys and First aid kit through children home safety checklist. The result extracted in two age groups: less and more than six months till sixty month. We analyzed the relation between children safety and social determine of heath. Furthermore, the research designed an attractive record card for each child and distributed among families by community volunteers.MAZDAK is a successful model of community based intervention that is done by community volunteers. It showed that the effective pathway for promoting safety in the community and society, especially for our children, would be community intervention, indubitably.
