Abstract:In this paper, most of direct time integration methods are compared in terms of stability and accuracy. The amplification matrix is created based on each method algorithm. By finding the spectral radius of each amplification matrix, stability analyses are done and compared to each other. Accuracy analysis is done through evaluation of two errors concerning amplitude decay and period elongation. The results are then presented in two graphs for comparison. Then, in order to involve parameters such as frequency content of applied load and size of time-step, numerical studies have been performed and the results presented in a table.
