EMULSION POLYMERIZATION TECHNIQUE FOR SYNTHESIS OF ELECTRO-MAGNETIC POLY (p-PHENYLENEDIAMINE)/Fe3O4 NANOROD COMPOSITE AND EVALUTION OF ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY

The electro-magnetic poly (p-phenylenediamine)/Fe3O4 nanorod composite were synthesized via emulsion polymerization. The structure, morphology, and properties of the nanocomposite were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, TGA, FESEM and VSM. TGA results displayed that the decomposition temperatures of nanocomposites were upper than the poly (p-phenylenediamine). All synthesized nanocomposites exhibited a semicrystalline pattern. The electrical and magnetization properties of nanocomposites was measured which were found that the electrical conductivity and magnetization property of the nanocomposites increased by increasing the amount of Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The obtained nanocomposites were analyzed for their antioxidant activity using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl assay and the results indicated a maximum antioxidant activity of 56% for the nanocomposite.
