Production of Precipitated CaCO3 by (NH4)2CO3 and Lime Using Two-Step Method

In this work, an experimental study is described focusing on the production of precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) by the use of two-step method. In the first step, PCC is producedfrom calcium chloride and ammonium carbonate. In the second step, ammonium chloride is reactedwith lime to produce calcium chloride that is used again in previous stage. This method is useful toproduce PCC with the properties of unique specific surface and meshing. The Experimental results show that initial concentration of Ca(OH)2 plays an important role in produced crystal’s size. Moreover, pH and conductivity decreases with time.
