Abstract:

When the short circuit faults are occur, larger amount of flux is diverted to the air outside the core. Thus, the leakage fluxes and the forces are increased. This paper is investigated radial and axial forces due to short circuit part of transformer winding. A 2-D model is considered and electromagnetic forces on different part of 25KVA transformer are displayed. We divided high voltage (HV) winding into 21 sections as winding of transformer model and make short-circuit of 0.5 percent of winding turn number. Electromagnetic forces are analyzed before short-circuit by finite element method and analytical method and then compared with each other and On the other hand, Magnetic flux densities and electromagnetic forces are analyzed in the manner of fault by finite element method (FEM). The results of short circuit forces are useful for transformer design
