Abstract:

In this paper, a method is presented here for modeling and predicting the rolling and yaw behavior of a tire which is subjected to a strong inflation pressure and a concentrated load on the axle, in contact with a flat, rigid surface. Finite element methods were used to model and simulate the tire/ground interactions. The incompressibility of the material, the large transformations and the unilateral contact with Coulomb friction law were all taken into account. Simulations were performed using Abaqus/CAE for two dimensional (2D) analysis and Abaqus command line partly for three dimensional (3D) simulation of tire inflation. At first, the deflection of the tire with a different load and pressure discussed. Then, the footprint of tire has been studied. At the end, the effects of some parameters such Ply- Angles and density of cords on the dimensional growth of tire are investigated. The results showed excellent accuracy in terms of deformation in FE models by comparison with real size measurements of tire profiles.
